Assalaamu Alaykum, Apologies for pasting from Sunnipath but I couldn't find what I was looking for elsewhere. Whenever we supplicate to Allah(swt) we either do it in fear or in hope. Fear of the punishment of the sins we have committed, and asking forgiveness for them. Hope, when we are in need of Allah(swt) and need Allah(swt) to accept our Dua's for someting to come true to ease you through a bad time period, or for something you wish for, which will bring more happiness in to you life. I admit for myself, I have also done the same, I either make Dua to Allah for my sins and for hope in somethng I want. How many people actually do shukr over what Allah(swt) has bestowed upon them and what He has blessed us with. Shukr is important, it is something we should always be doing, especially for all the things we have taken for granted, our parents, the roof on our heads, our upbringing our partners, our children etc. May Allah give us the tawfeeq to be thankful for what He has given us and also for what he Has not given us. It is not important for all our duas to come true, Allah may have something better planned for us. So do shukr for everything. Sunni path to follow...
