On Regular Devotions Fill up your time with acts of worship so that no period of time elapses. This is how the barakah in time is made manifest, the purpose of life fulfilled and the approach of God made constant Know that awrAAd have a great affect in illuminating he heart and controlling the senseS, but these only appear and become established with perseverance and repetition, and their performance at specifically allocated times. If you are not one of those who fill their night and day with devotional activities, then assign yourself award to persevere with at specific times, that you make up for if missed, so that your souls becomes accustomed to them. When your soul despairs of your abandonment, it will hasten to perform them in time. Be moderate and keep to the middle way in everything. Choose the acts you are capable of persevering in. as the Hadith of the Prophet states “the acts most pleasing to Allah are the most constant, even if few” and “choose the acts of which you are capable, for God will not grow weary before you.”It is Satans way to entice the seeker at the beginning of his quest to be excessive in his devotional duties, the purpose being to make him retreat, either by giving up the acts of goodness altogether or performing them incorrectly Awraad usually takes the for of superogatory prayers, Quran recitation, the acquisition of knowledge, invocation (dhikr) and reflection (fikr) Properties of wird: - assigning a time - defintate number you can sustain and some of our predecessors had wird of 1000 rakahs a day Eemaan Notes: Imam ibn Alawi Al-Haddad even in his early childhood he would pray 200 rakahs every morning in the Ba’alwai Masjid in Tahrim Sayid ilfaqih also his childhood friends said “we grew up together…but he outstripped us…when Surah Yasin was recited before him, we could see how greatly if affected him, he wept profusely, and was sometimes barely able to continue listening to it.” One of his quotes... “He who attributes Humility to himself is really proud, For humility arises only out of loftiness; So when you attribute humility to yourself, then you are proud”
